I thought conservatives liked Star Trek because it showed the potential for humanity to grow without losing its core values.
1980s Trek: "You are strong, smart, eloquent, and charismatic. After completing officer training, you can start as a junior officer and work your way up the ranks."
2030s Trek: "You are out of shape, dull, quick to insult and anger, and ugly both inside and out. Skip all training because training and education are patriarchy, you own a ship now!"
Conservatives like the first one: A natural growth of their existing values, in a successful future environment, that is mostly unchanged from their own lives except the issues are future-coded. Liberals like the second one, a throwing off of all natural order and logic, because post-modernism dictates logic is white supremacy, just ask the Smithsonian.
