Some of the Law Societies here in Canada tried to impose an annual and mandatory "Statement of Principles" as a condition of licensing, although the motion was ultimately repealed and defeated in Ontario at least in 2019.
The requirement is that each lawyer sign onto a statement that acknowledges “their obligation to promote equality, diversity and inclusion generally, and in their behaviour towards colleagues, employees, clients and the public.”
