earlier today I was reading an article about Persona: https://web.archive.org/web/20210103132911/https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/persona-25th-anniversary-tease-2021/ where the writer says "The original Persona wouldn’t come to North America until over a decade later in 2009 when a port titled Shin Megami Tensei: Persona launched on PlayStation Portable." This is very factually wrong as the first game came out in the US for the PS1 as Revelations: Persona.
I made a comment saying as much and when I went to check to see if they fixed it a few hours later, they did: https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/persona-25th-anniversary-tease-2021/ with no mention that they changed it and my message is gone.
And of course its the PSP version that is best known for literally turning a party member black in the West.
That was also the PS1 version, They changed a lot in the original PS1 localization to make it less "Japanese" fearing it would "alienate western audiences".
Localizers are complete parasitic scum. Always filled with contempt for the source material and fans.
