It’s a question of definitions: if we agree that cyber security isn’t just about data breaches but data integrity, then it’s clear that these companies come under the umbrella of security.
OK, this is me, an infosec dude, officially triggered. Yes, the C-I-A thing of "Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability" does reference "Integrity" but that's a reference to making sure the CCP isn't dicking around in your customer database. It's not about turning yourself into some sort of worldwide Information Police.
I've kind of lost track of how many information security schemes make exactly the same damned point but use different mnemonics and abbreviations for each and every stage of the process.
I just can't wait for the meeting when some progressive idiot tries to explain to me that real data integrity consists of purging anything problematic from customer data...
And, presumably, copping the massive penalty from the client as some kind of moral imperative.

There is a reason Cartesian demons like Chomsky and Foucalt are linguists.

That's a hell of a stretch of the term data integrity.
Data Integrity doesn't mean that the data meets your appointed standards of truthiness. Data integrity just means that the data is as you found it.
Purging data you don't like is the fucking opposite of data integrity.
I FUCKING HATE THESE GOD DAMNED LEFTIST SCUM

Am I so out of touch?
No... it's the client who is wrong.
You should see the things leftists are doing in the data science world. They're on a rampage purging data of politically incorrect tags.
I might land in that world. I'll probably break something.
