The only commentary on the story content of the game I'll give is I played it about 3.5hrs the first couple days and that's it. Not because it didn't work but because it didn't get my attention enough at the time. I do tend to get the idea that it will lean SJW heavy, albeit perhaps not as egregiously as an Outer Worlds for example.
That said, this is not about that, it's about the console performance. I'm generally a console gamer myself, but I also have reasonable expectations. That is way out of line with most of them that expect their 7 year old hardware to do everything as well as a new PC. They will then show like a still shot of Red Dead 2 or something with nothing going on as "see look how pretty my PS4 is".
This game was set up to be a loser though. Walking through what bit of the game world I've done there's a lot going on. Every little moving billboard, flashing light, walking person, that all requires processing resources to make it work. They put themselves in a bind where their ambition was at the level of a Crysis, where nothing would play it well at launch but had to pare things back to make it still not work well on old hardware. Throw in some bugs to piss off everyone who isn't on old tech and you've got the situation they are in.
Then you get the piss-poor management at CDPR. Yeah I blame whoever was managing these projects. At some point you have to have someone tell your teams to cut shit out and make it into a typical games wax museum style world and instead work on enemy AI and make the game fun. Or make it run well but very obviously cut features on old consoles and deal with that backlash. Or decide that it's going to release on PC first, focus on next gen consoles, only, etc. or any other plethora of decisions. Just pick something that results in a polished product on release whenever that release is. Instead they just let everyone run wild and then get to a point where they have to release something or they are going to all get the ax.
Maybe that's just me ranting from my own experience in the big corporation world. I find a lot more of the woke stupidity in the middle and upper management where they are installed in positions they aren't qualified to do. Granted I work in a technical field and not with a bunch of artsy people though.
