Now I’m only on Book 12 but the more I read about the show the more I’m content to just finish the book series and let that be it. They are summarizing it as a book about Moraine. Now she is an important character but it’s about Rand. Also the show runner took questions and one “fan” asked about lgbt representation and he said he will make sure to have that because it’s important.
An annoyance of mine in nerd culture are people who have to see themselves represented in everything. In my opinion they aren’t real fans. A well written character can appeal to all types of people. I’m a black male and since childhood my two favorite comic book characters have been Spider-Man and Superman. I like them because they are idealistic and try to see the good in everyone which is something I strive for.
I’ll say it again people who have to be represented or see themselves in everything aren’t real fans and some people make up a small percentage of the population so it’s very unrealistic to be represented in everything.
I'm not looking forward to the show at all. I plan to not watch it so I can keep enjoying the books. One of the worst things about the new Star Wars trilogy was that it made me no longer enjoy Star Wars content, this includes the Star Wars books. I've skipped The Witcher series for the same reason and going to skip LOTR as well.
With Star Wars I just read the old EU but I do like Mandalorian. I totally get where you are coming from. I’ve read the hobbit and I plan on reading the LOTR trilogy and simillarion soon. Also got the original Conan the Barbarian stories.
I need to get the Witcher books. I like Cavil because he respects fans but I feel season two will be female focused entirely
That's the thing, even the old EU bothers me. I used to read them but now they just remind me of what it could have been and how much Disney hates fans. I found myself to no longer be able to enjoy them. Is to much of a risk to get involved in a new series that will shit on fans. The Witcher may be good or may be crap but I simply do not want to commit and then have it blow up in my face. If you get to read the books let me know if you like them, the writing stile is very strange, reminds me a bit of Roger Zelazny.
