To provide context: This mayor wants to collect taxes from people that used to work in an area that would have had them paying taxes into city coffers but now that they're working at home, they do not do so.
My question is - once you've established that you're due taxes for providing no benefit whatsoever why stop there? Have you at any point worked in MI? Travelled through MI? Visited friends there? Changed job since then? Too bad - now cough up, sunshine, or there'll be a bench warrant waiting for you the next time you go to the city.
This is actually worse than that. As far as I can work out, Mayor Bliss wants your personal tax dollars if your company operates in Grand Rapids, MI, whether you are there or not.

What’s that? Never go to Michigan? Already on it.
New York City does this. Go to New York on business for a day and you're supposed to pay them income tax for that day.
