The average across Europe is 5'9-5'11, while the US is also 5'9. A difference in a few random countries, but let's not split hairs like its David and Goliath.
In a shocking bit of pedanticism though, Wikipedia itself categories the US by race and if we only include whites the US suddenly gets another half inch or more.

I specifically said Western (and Northern) Europe, because for example French men are so short that it's theorized that due to all the wars it has fought it bled the biggest and strongest men.

Really? In France the only very tall men you see are black. I guess it's Latin Americans and Asians who are less tall, right?
This is not my regular America-bashing. I'm just surprised that people who around here would be considered normal are considered tall.

Now I'm not European, but the only things more West than France in Europe are Iberian or Irish. If we aren't counting France as Western Europe then I have no idea what it even entails.

Shocked me too because most very tall men here are black as well. But they are 175.5 cm compared to US whites 177 cm. The Asians are down at 169.7 and Hispanics at 169.5 (they even specific out just Mexicans, even lower at 168.8). I switched to using Centimeter to better point out the very small differences, ftr.
So like a lot of things in the world, America's Diversity drags it down below European averages.

I know, I'm just pointing back that by all data the difference is so minimal in actuality its almost meaningless. We have greater gaps between races in America than America vs European by raw numbers sake. There must be other factors at play for that difference in consideration beyond mathematical reality, because it is true that people do treat it much more rare here despite its normalcy.

As someone in Western Europe, I'm always amused when 'Murricans think that 6'1" is 'tall'.

Basically, the Germanic countries.
