Nintendo’s Princess Peach and Zelda were used as examples of negative stereotypes of women due to being damsels in distress.
This is one of the most frustrating things for me. Not only can both of these characters take proactive roles whether or not they end up kidnapped. but there's literally nothing wrong with a man saving a woman. (Or vice versa, for that matter.) There's nothing wrong with wanting to be someone's hero, and there's nothing wrong with wanting a hero to help you.
Yeah, what about super-heroes? Their whole point is that they go around saving people. What matter if it's one person of either sex (or some mutant), a non-human, or the entire fucking Earth? In fact, the "The Earth is gonna be destroyed" trope is getting old and tired very quickly, what the fuck is so special about us, go pick on someone else for a change. :P
