That's certainly been their intention, it remains to be seen if they've let it run long enough to gain momentum of it's own. Or even if the DNC's aims align with the people they've had sponsoring all of this.
Short version: Because the DNC will not just do as AOC tells it to do, she's looking at perhaps packing the whole thing in.
