The assertion that value is never subjectively defined, but objectively defined, and it is defined by the ideological priestly class who define who matters, how much, and when. Black lives mater, women's lives matter, trans lives matter, blue lives don't, white lives don't, nazi lives don't, Trump supporters don't, etc.
The narcissist uses similar language, but they themselves are defining what matters and what doesn't. Without their attention fix, they declare that people don't think they matter, and they act out in extreme ways to make sure people give them the attention and affirmation they need. They talk about how they "need to matter" or "don't matter any more".

Normal people don't harp on about the concept of "mattering", because we don't matter very much to most people, because the random person you encounter hasn't made a social bond with you that would make them think you have value to them... because all value is subjective, not objective.
Here is a person claiming her father came to the light in his dying days, and realized that the priestly class was right about the will of God all along objective value all along: Women mater, Girls matter, his morally correct Daughters matter, he doesn't matter.
