AMD never was trash. I've been using them for 10+ years because Intel is a shitty company, and nvidia occasionally tries to out-Intel Intel.
They used to have slower top end processors but that was always irrelevant to me because upper mid-range has the best cost-performance ratio and AMD generally beat Intel there.
From what I've read AMD more than caught up in recent years. Plus Intel had a shit ton of security vulnerabilities that AMD avoided.
