Police create security perimeter around Twitter headquarters ahead of reported pro-Trump protest

January 11, 2021

Police have placed a security perimeter around the entrance of Twitter’s headquarters in San Francisco, amid reports that pro-Trump supporters are expected to descend upon the building in protest of President Trump being permanently banned from the platform.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that calls for a protest at Twitter’s headquarters were posted on a “far-right forum that emerged as an offshoot of the subreddit TheDonald – which Reddit banned last year,” where users also posted planning and organization prior to the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.

The paper reports that some members of the forum suggested carrying zip ties, similar to ones photographed being carried by several rioters on the Senate floor last Wednesday. The publication also suggested the possibility that protesters intended to go to the homes of Twitter employees, including CEO Jack Dorsey.

  • everybody mad at zip tie guy on twitter

  • suggest people do the same thing on a "TheDonald offshoot"

  • media hacks freak out, police deployed

It glows brightly.

Susan Rosenberg

individual Last updated: June 23, 2020

Overview

•Involved with several terrorist groups in 1970s and early 1980s, including the Black Liberation Army, the Weather Underground, and The Family

Sentenced in 1984 to a 58-year prison term for the possession of more than 700 pounds of explosives and a stockpile of illicit weapons

Indicted for driving the getaway car in the October 1981 robbery of a Brinks armored car carrying $1.6 million, a robbery in which two policemen and an armed guard were murdered

•After having served 16 years of her 58-year sentence, she was pardoned by President Clinton in January 2001, just days before Clinton left office.

•Was hired by New York’s Hamilton College to teach a course in January 2005

Convicted terrorist Susan Rosenberg must be counted among the unlikeliest candidates ever to be awarded a university teaching post. As recently as the year 2000, she was serving out the 16th year of a 58-year sentence for the possession of more than 700 pounds of explosives and a stockpile of illicit weapons. Moreover, the onetime member of a leftist terrorist outfit called “The Family” was also a suspect in a 1981 robbery-gone-awry that left three people dead in Nyack, New York.

Inside the female-run communist terror group hell-bent on destruction

By Mary Kay Linge January 4, 2020 | 1:56pm | Updated

The bust marked the beginning of the end of the May 19th Communist Organization, the nation’s only woman-run terror group, William Rosenau recounts in “Tonight We Bombed the U.S. Capitol” (Atria), out Tuesday.

M19’s two-year bombing campaign in New York City and Washington, DC, aimed to cast a cloud over what President Ronald Reagan’s re-election campaign was promising: a sunny, prosperous “Morning in America.”

Reagan’s election in 1980 told the remnants of America’s radical left that the country had rejected their call to revolution.

But M19’s core of five women and two men pushed back with a series of seven explosions that they intended to be “percussive wake-up calls” for the nation, Rosenau writes — “proof that an underground army was still at work.”

Middle-class and college-educated, M19’s members shared a disdain for their own whiteness. To prove they weren’t merely “mouthing revolution,” they allied with the Black Liberation Army to break cop-killer Joanne Chesimard (aka Assata Shakur) out of prison in 1979. Two years later they assisted in the notorious Brink’s robbery of 1981, which killed two Nyack police officers and a bank guard.

Later that year, on Nov. 7, M19 members blended in with the tourists and staffers who swarmed the US Capitol. They stashed a Puma-branded duffel bag under a bench just outside the Senate chamber, an area no longer open to the public.

The blast that night punched a 15-foot crater in a brick wall, shattered chandeliers and shredded a portrait of 19th-century Sen. John C. Calhoun, the slavery-defending South Carolina Democrat.

The rest served lengthy sentences before release or parole. Bill Clinton granted Rosenberg a presidential pardon on his last day in office in 2001, after she had served 16 years. Now 64, she teaches women’s studies at CUNY’s Hunter College in Manhattan.

But it was Clark who remained behind bars the longest. Convicted of second-degree murder for her role in the Brink’s robbery, she was jailed for 37 years, until Gov. Cuomo commuted her sentence and she won parole in 2019. Her daughter Harriet — “raised by the collective” as a baby and by her grandparents while her mother was behind bars — was there to greet her on her release. Parole officials said Clark moved to Manhattan and took a job with Hour Children, a nonprofit dedicated to incarcerated women.

Did a ‘Convicted Terrorist’ Sit on the Board of a BLM Funding Body?

The past crimes of Susan Rosenberg reemerged in the summer of 2020, amid a new wave of protests over racial injustice and police brutality.

DAN MACGUILL PUBLISHED 14 JULY 2020

What's True

Susan Rosenberg has served as vice chair of the board of directors for Thousand Currents, an organization that provides fundraising and fiscal sponsorship for the Black Lives Matter Global Movement. She was an active member of revolutionary left-wing movements whose illegal activities included bombing U.S. government buildings and committing armed robberies.

What's Undetermined

In the absence of a single, universally-agreed definition of "terrorism," it is a matter of subjective determination as to whether the actions for which Rosenberg was convicted and imprisoned — possession of weapons and hundreds of pounds of explosives — should be described as acts of "domestic terrorism."

Only In Your Imagination Was That An Attempted “Coup”

Michael Tracey 3 hours ago

Is it unusual for a mob to breach the Capitol Building — ransacking offices, taking goofy selfies, and disrupting the proceedings of Congress for a few hours? Yes, that’s unusual. But the idea that this was a real attempt at a “coup” — meaning an attempt to seize by force the reins of the most powerful state in world history — is so preposterous that you really have to be a special kind of deluded in order to believe it. Or if not deluded, you have to believe that using such terminology serves some other political purpose. Such as, perhaps, imposing even more stringent censorship on social media, where the “coup” is reported to have been organized. Or inflicting punishment on the man who is accused of “inciting” the coup, which you’ve spent four years desperately craving to do anyway. He’s already been effectively banned from Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter — a rubicon-crossing event in the suppression of political speech which, of course, is being cheered by all the usual suspects who otherwise claim to be stalwart defenders of enlightened liberal values.

Chicago Police Union President Defends Those Who Stormed The U.S. Capitol

By Chip Mitchell Thursday, Jan. 7, 11:43 a.m. CT•Updated 4:14 p.m. CT

“There was no arson, there was no burning of anything, there was no looting, there was very little destruction of property,” Catanzara told WBEZ in a Wednesday evening phone interview. “It was a bunch of pissed-off people that feel an election was stolen, somehow, some way.”

“Evidence matters,” Catanzara said. “Until that appears, shame on them for what they did, but it was out of frustration. There’s no fights. There’s no, obviously, violence in this crowd. They pushed past security and made their way to the Senate chamber. Did they destroy anything when they were there? No.”

Catanzara said Wednesday’s mayhem was “very different than what happened all across this country all summer long in Democratic-ran cities and nobody had a problem with that.”

“If the worst crime here is trespassing, so be it. But to call these people treasonous is beyond ridiculous and ignorant.”

Outgoing Capitol Police chief: House, Senate security officials hamstrung efforts to call in National Guard

The D.C. contingent was flabbergasted to hear Piatt say that he could not recommend that his boss, Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy, approve the request.

“I don’t like the visual of the National Guard standing a police line with the Capitol in the background,” Piatt said, according to Sund and others on the call.

Pentagon officials have emphasized that the Capitol Police did not ask for D.C. Guard backup ahead of the event or request to put a riot contingency plan in place with guardsmen at the ready, and then made an urgent request as rioters were about to breach the building, even though the Guard isn’t set up to be a quick-reaction force like the police.

The dystopian Lincoln Memorial photo raises a grim question: Will they protect us, or will they shoot us?

Who in the Pentagon, or the leadership of the National Guard of the District of Columbia, thought this was a good look? Who thought what America needs now is a viral image of the American military in camouflage and body armor occupying a memorial that symbolizes the hope of reconciliation, that has drawn to its steps Marian Anderson to sing for a mixed-race crowd during a time of segregation and Martin Luther King to proclaim “I have a dream,” and millions of nameless souls, of all races, who believe there is some meaning in words like “the better angels of our nature”?

A photograph of members of the District’s National Guard on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial began racing around Twitter and other social media Tuesday, as the country was still digesting a violent assault by Secret Service, police and guard troops on peaceful protesters outside the White House on Monday. The photo showed troops standing resolutely, perhaps provocatively, on the memorial’s wide and inviting steps, as if they owned it. To many, it symbolized the militarization of Washington, of our government and country, and the terrifying dissolution of old boundaries between partisan politics and the independent, professional military.

Ever since FB & Twitter's censorship orgy, all we heard is it's no big deal. Liberals invoked the libertarian mantra that private corporations can do what they want, you can just build a competitor if you don't like it. But you can't: they're monopolies.

Well it's a private company so if you don't like it, you can always...

"create your own social network" "create your own app ecosystem" "create your own payment system" "create your own Web hosting service" "create your own power company" "create your own... country."

It was a Democratic-controlled House sub-committee that just a few months ago issued a lengthy report concluding that FB, Amazon, Google & Apple are monopolies. That means competition is impossible. Now Dems are happy that it's used for them:

‘Infamy’: Chuck Schumer Compares Capitol Chaos To Pearl Harbor

By  Jon Brown Jan 7, 2021   DailyWire.com

It is very, very difficult to put into words what has transpired today. I have never lived through or even imagined an experience like the one we have just witnessed in this Capitol. I have never lived through or even imagined an experience like the one we have just witnessed in this Capitol. President Franklin Roosevelt set aside Dec. 7, 1941, as a day that will live in infamy. Unfortunately, we can now add Jan. 6, 2021, to that very short list of dates in American history that will live forever in infamy.

This temple to democracy was desecrated, its windows smashed, our offices vandalized. The world saw Americans’ elected officials hurriedly ushered out because they were in harm’s way. The House and Senate floors were places of shelter until the evacuation was ordered, leaving rioters to stalk these hallowed halls. Lawmakers and our staffs, Average citizens who love their country, serve it every day, feared for their lives. I understand that one woman was shot and tragically lost her life. We mourn her and feel for her friends and family.

I want to be very clear: Those who performed these reprehensible acts cannot be called protesters – no, these were rioters and insurrectionists, goons and thugs, domestic terrorists. They do not represent America. They were a few thousand violent extremists who tried to take over the Capitol building and attack our democracy.

The Great Lesson of California in America’s New Civil War

Why there’s no bipartisan way forward at this juncture in our history — one side must win

Peter Leyden Jan 19·

The solution for the people of California was to reconfigure the political landscape and shift a supermajority of citizens — and by extension their elected officials — under the Democratic Party’s big tent. The natural continuum of more progressive to more moderate solutions then got worked out within the context of the only remaining functioning party. The California Democrats actually cared about average citizens, embraced the inevitable diversity of 21st-century society, weren’t afraid of real innovation, and were ready to start solving the many challenges of our time, including climate change.

The Twitter purge moves us closer to a civilisational internet

Donald Trump has been banned from Twitter

Great American political divorce:

There’s no point American conservatives whining about free speech or unfairness or hypocrisy: American politics has moved beyond such abstractions, whatever anyone involved claims to think. It’s as pointless as complaining about the dissonance between the policing and reporting of one side’s riots versus the other: each side wants their riots supported by the state, and the other side’s quashed; their own rioters handled with kid gloves, and the other side’s shot: there’s nothing deeper to it. There are now two popular factions, who hate each other and wish for the other’s total destruction: Trump and Biden are just the avatars in wrinkled flesh of the two opposing popular wills.

Great European/Silly-Con Valley divorce:

To this end, an important point was made by the EU’s foreign policy chief Josep Borrell Fontelles this week. The debate about European strategic autonomy has hitherto focussed on the EU’s adoption of independent military capacity from the US, but its true ramifications are far deeper. First urging the return of strategic and medical industrial capacity to Europe from China, Borrell goes on to urge the avoidance of “excessive dependence on external suppliers” in the “strategic sectors” of “digital networks and cloud computing,” a clear reference to Europe’s dependence on the political whims of Silicon Valley oligarchs. As he states, “the aim is not to embrace autarky or protectionism, but to safeguard our political independence so that we remain masters of our own choices and future.”

At least someone in the Europe sees things clearly. A cucked EU official no less.

ACLU raises concerns amid Twitter's ban of Trump

By Ryan Lovelace - The Washington Times - Friday, January 8, 2021

The American Civil Liberties Union on Friday is raising concerns about social media platforms banning users, in the aftermath of Twitter’s decision to permanently suspend President Trump.

While the ACLU has repeatedly locked horns with Mr. Trump and his administration over issues such as the president’s travel ban, the ACLU is worried about the ramifications of tech companies diminishing online speech.

“We understand the desire to permanently suspend him now, but it should concern everyone when companies like Facebook and Twitter wield the unchecked power to remove people from platforms that have become indispensable for the speech of billions — especially when political realities make those decisions easier,” said Kate Ruane, ACLU senior legislative counsel, in a statement.

“President Trump can turn to his press team or Fox News to communicate with the public, but others — like the many Black, Brown, and LGBTQ activists who have been censored by social media companies — will not have that luxury.”

Ms. Ruane said it is her hope that the tech companies will apply their rules equally to everyone.

Capitol Rioters Walked Away. Climate Protesters Saw a Double Standard.

“There’s two worlds,” said one community activist who has been arrested several times at nonviolent protests. “And we’ve got to fix that.”

By John Schwartz Jan. 7, 2021

Even so, the apparently light treatment of Wednesday’s protesters troubled Kate Ruane, senior legislative counsel at the American Civil Liberties Union, who said that the treatment of the predominantly white crowd was far more gentle than the police response to many of the antiracism protesters and climate change activists of color, including the clearing last year of Lafayette Square in Washington with chemical irritants and force, and the treatment of Native American activists and others opposing pipeline projects.

Reminder that Ashli Babbit was unarmed when she was shot with a real bullet at the Capitol. And tear gas was also used there. Unlike leftist protestors, who only ever faced rubber bullets.

The modern ACLU is not the ACLU of the 1970s.

After all, if leftists control the Presidency, Congress, House, social media, press, military, who's going to stop leftists from their free speech rights of praising communism?

The modern ACLU doesn't need to pretend to defend everyone's rights any more. They can just protect leftist rights and leftist speech.

Human rights? More like leftist rights.

And then after the panel discussion, person after person got up, including some of the younger professors, to assert that their goals of social justice for blacks, for women, for minorities of all kinds were incompatible with free speech and that free speech was an antagonist.

BREAKING: Twitter Bans President Donald Trump — PERMANENTLY

By Cassandra Fairbanks Published January 8, 2021 at 5:31pm 350 Comments

Twitter has suspended President Donald Trump’s account permanently.

Reports are coming in that he has now joined Parler — and Google and Apple are both now threatening to ban that entire platform.

Hundreds, possibly thousands, of his supporters and allies have also been banned since the 6th — including prominent figures like General Mike Flynn, Sidney Powell, and Lin Wood.

Twitter Permanently Suspends Trump, Citing 'Risk Of Further Incitement Of Violence'

January 8, 2021·6:29 PM ET

BOBBY ALLYN TAMARA KEITH

It did not take long for Trump to try to get around the ban. Trump tweeted four messages from the @POTUS account. All were swifted taken down.

In the posts, which Trump also shared in a written statement, he accused Twitter of banning free speech.

"Twitter employees have coordinated with the Democrats and the Radical Left in removing my account from their platform, to silence me — and YOU, the 75,000,000 great patriots who voted for me," Trump said.

This section is disputed. How can Trump have access to the @POTUS and @WhiteHouse accounts, after you told us his post on @POTUS was swiftly deleted?

Trump still has access to official White House accounts while in office, such as @POTUS and @WhiteHouse — but his access to those accounts end on Jan. 20, the first day of Joe Biden's presidency.

A Twitter official said @POTUS and @WhiteHouse will not be suspended, but the company "will take action to limit their use" ahead of the accounts transitioning to the Biden administration. The company's policy is to suspend any accounts that are used to get around a ban such as the one imposed on the president Friday.

https://archive.vn/cIMB7 Twitter Safety @TwitterSafety After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence.

Permanent suspension of @realDonaldTrump

By Twitter Inc. Friday, 8 January 2021

This section is disputed, since Twitter has failed to provide any evidence of "how they are being received and interpreted on and off Twitter". This poster suggests Twitter hand over their mind-reading equipment data in the interests of transparency and not hyperbolic screeching.

After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them — specifically how they are being received and interpreted on and off Twitter — we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence.

On January 8, 2021, President Donald J. Trump tweeted:

“The 75,000,000 great American Patriots who voted for me, AMERICA FIRST, and MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, will have a GIANT VOICE long into the future. They will not be disrespected or treated unfairly in any way, shape or form!!!”

“To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th.”

We assessed the two Tweets referenced above under our Glorification of Violence policy, which aims to prevent the glorification of violence that could inspire others to replicate violent acts and determined that they were highly likely to encourage and inspire people to replicate the criminal acts that took place at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.

President-elect Joe Biden called the violence in Washington, D.C., ‘one of the darkest days in the history of our nation.’

By Ken Thomas and Sabrina Siddiqui Updated Jan. 7, 2021 2:23 pm ET

Mr. Biden has said he plans to make a priority of passing a law against domestic terrorism, and he has been urged to create a White House post overseeing the fight against ideologically inspired violent extremists and increasing funding to combat them.

Federal law defines domestic terrorism as dangerous and illegal acts intended to coerce a population or influence the government. While it can be charged in some states, no generic federal crime exists. Domestic terrorism spans extremist ideologies, but it has been predominantly a far-right phenomenon in recent decades, according to researchers.

Biden Administration Urged to Take Fresh Look at Domestic Terrorism

First-ever White House post and more funding to combat violent extremists floated by working group that advised president-elect’s team

By Rachael Levy Nov. 13, 2020 10:03 am ET

WASHINGTON—President-elect Joe Biden, who has said he plans to make a priority of passing a law against domestic terrorism, has also been urged to create a White House post overseeing the fight against ideologically inspired violent extremists and increasing funding to combat them, according to people who have advised his team.

A proposal for the Biden presidency’s first 100 days, now with Mr. Biden’s transition team for consideration, also calls for passing more red-flag laws, which allow authorities to temporarily take guns from people deemed dangerous, some of the people said.

One of the most notable proposals from the advisory group is the new White House post, which would oversee federal agencies’ efforts to combat domestic terrorism. Those measures could include approaches to mental-health issues from the Department of Health and Human Services and high-school programs handled by the Education Department, a person familiar with the matter said.

The group also proposed creating a federal interagency task force that addresses the current threat landscape, and forming an advisory body that includes people from communities often targeted by domestic extremists, such as Black, Jewish, Muslim, Sikh and LGBT communities, the person said.

According to a campaign website, Mr. Biden intends to work “for a domestic terrorism law that respects free speech and civil liberties, while making the same commitment to root out domestic terrorism as we have to stopping international terrorism.”

Other ideas floated to Mr. Biden’s team, according to people familiar with the discussions, include increasing funding to a revamped DHS program to combat extremists. In its latest incarnation under the Trump administration, that program recently announced grants of $10 million to groups focused largely on combating white supremacists and other far-right extremists.

Several former officials from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Justice Department advocate a targeted law on domestic terrorism, saying the U.S. could better address the issue if it were a federal crime.

  • Biden: Rioters who stormed Capitol were insurrectionists, domestic terrorists

  • transition team calls for passing more red-flag laws, which allow authorities to temporarily take guns from people deemed dangerous

  • Biden has said he plans to make a priority of passing a law against domestic terrorism, campaign website says would respect free speech and civil liberties

  • former FBI, Justice officials, say the U.S. could better address the issue if it were a federal crime

  • advisory group proposes approaches to mental-health issues from the Department of Health and Human Services and high-school programs handled by the Education Department

Sounds suspiciously like the Biden party vans and re-education camps are revving up.

No one can tell me that if it had been a group of Black Lives Matter protestors yesterday that they wouldn’t have been treated very differently than the mob that stormed the Capitol. We all know that’s true — and it’s unacceptable.

Let me be very clear: the scenes of chaos at the Capitol do not represent who we are. What we are seeing is a small number of extremists dedicated to lawlessness. This is not dissent, it's disorder. It borders on sedition, and it must end. Now.

Pretty sure cops used more live ammo on Trump supporters than BLM.

Capitol Breach Draws Sharp Condemnation of Law Enforcement

The Capitol Police were clearly outnumbered and unprepared for the onslaught. And some activists on the left saw a stark double standard.

Americans looked on in shock Wednesday as a calm protest turned into an angry mob that swarmed past barriers and stormed the Capitol — spraying officers with chemical agents, breaking windows and doors and looting sizable objects — as the Capitol Police struggled to contain the violence and sometimes simply retreated.

It took more than two hours, and reinforcements from other law enforcement agencies, before order was restored. One woman who appeared to have wrapped herself in a flag was fatally shot by a Capitol Police officer, according to Robert Contee, chief of the city’s Metropolitan Police Department, which was called in for backup. Another woman and two men died during the events because of as yet unspecified medical emergencies, he said.

And protesters on the left saw a stark double standard, saying they had been hit with rubber bullets, manhandled, surrounded and arrested while behaving peacefully during demonstrations against racial injustice over the summer.

Attica Scott, a state representative in Kentucky, was arrested in Louisville on felony charges that were later dropped during the many months of protest over the death of Breonna Taylor in a botched police raid. “You can be arrested for walking while Black,” she said, “but you can be white and riot and basically get away with it.”

Members of Congress demanded explanations as well. “We must investigate the security breach at the Capitol today,” said Representative Maxine Waters, a California Democrat, on Twitter. “I warned our Caucus and had an hour-long conversation with the Chief of Police 4 days ago. He assured me the terrorists would not be allowed on the plaza & Capitol secured.”

The Proud Boys have been beating the drum for months for confrontations in support of Mr. Trump. In a statement on one of their social media channels after the storming of the U.S. Capitol, the Proud Boys attempted to justify the violence by saying that they were only copying the tactics of leftist protesters.

But Ja’Mal Green, a Chicago-based activist, said there was no comparison between the tactics or the response. “We all know if Black Lives Matter would have stormed the Capitol, there would have been deadly force used to protect that building, especially because it’s a federal building,” he said. “We today saw what it means for white people to have the privilege.”

Rioting Trump Supporters Stage An Attempted Coup, Breaching The Capitol And Inciting An Armed Standoff

A mob of Trump supporters who believe that the election was stolen from the president stormed the Capitol in an act of domestic terrorism. Someone has been shot.

WASHINGTON — Thousands of Donald Trump's supporters have staged an attempted coup at the president’s urging, rioting and breaching the halls of Congress while elected officials were beginning to certify Joe Biden’s presidential election win, gaining access to the floor of the Senate, and inciting an armed standoff with law enforcement in the House of Representatives.

A shot was apparently fired inside the Capitol, according to a witness video posted to social media, which showed a person draped in a Trump flag slumping to the floor. Television cameras captured a person being wheeled from the building on a stretcher, bleeding, with someone compressing her chest.

The act of domestic terrorism, egged on by an aggrieved Trump who refuses to concede an election he has firmly lost, came when his supporters stormed the Capitol Wednesday morning, with many supporters breaking through barricades of police officers and breaching the doors. In a speech where he falsely claimed victory Wednesday morning, Trump urged supporters to “march” to the Capitol in a show of “strength.”

UPDATE: Forrmer Mueller Prosecutor Jeannie Rhee Is Tied to Arrest of Proud Boys Chairman Enrique Tarrio

By Jacob Engels Published January 4, 2021 at 9:25pm

Jacob Engels at Major League Liberty USA reported:

Former Mueller prosecutor Jeannie Rhee seems to be the originator of the charges against Tarrio, according to court documents obtained by MLLUSA. Rhee, who led the witch-hunt against Trump advisor Roger Stone, was listed on court documents as the attorney representing the African American church who claims it was their BLM banner that was stolen by someone and burned by The Proud Boys last month in DC, according to documents filed with the court in early January.

The leader of the far-right Proud Boys was arrested in Washington.

WASHINGTON — The leader of the Proud Boys, the far-right group that has vocally supported President Trump’s efforts to overturn the election results, was arrested on Monday on charges of destruction of property after he arrived in Washington to protest the congressional certification of the election later this week, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Enrique Tarrio, the chairman of the Proud Boys, was arrested by Metropolitan Police on suspicion of burning a Black Lives Matter banner torn from a historic Black church in Washington during protests last month that led to several violent clashes, including stabbings, around the city.

The local police said at the time that it would investigate the church attacks as potential hate crimes.

“Who do you love? Who do you love? And will you be loyal to the person you love? And that’s what people are finding out is what all marriages, at their root, are about.”  —Joe Biden, “Meet the Press,” May 6, 2012

Reverse Department of Defense policies that perpetuate stigmatization of and discrimination against people living with HIV. The Trump-Pence Administration’s “Deploy or Get Out” policy, which is used to forcibly discharge members of the military with HIV, was found to be “irrational, inconsistent, and at variance with modern science” by a federal district court. The Fourth Circuit affirmed this decision in January 2020 for “fail[ing] to account for current medical literature and expert opinion about current HIV treatment and transmission risks.” If the Trump-Pence Administration continues to try to implement the policy, the Biden Administration will rescind it.

To infect military personnel with HIV so Biden admin's neolib Big Pharma can enrich themselves?

Combat the epidemic of violence against transgender women of color.

There's no epidemic of lgbt violence.

End our gun violence epidemic and its impact on the LGBTQ+ community. Biden has put forward a comprehensive plan to end our gun violence epidemic, including by banning the manufacture and sale of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines and requiring background checks for all gun sales. He will also work to close the “hate crime loophole” by enacting legislation prohibiting an individual “who has been convicted of a misdemeanor hate crime, or received an enhanced sentence for a misdemeanor because of hate or bias in its commission” from purchasing or possessing a firearm.

lgbt gender issues = gun bans rofl

Say nigger and be banned from owning guns. - t. Biden team

Decriminalize HIV exposure and transmission laws. In 2018, 26 states in America had HIV exposure criminal laws. These laws perpetuate discrimination and stigma towards people with HIV/AIDS, and there is simply no “scientific basis” for them. As President, Biden will support legislation like the REPEAL HIV Discrimination Act, which promotes best practice recommendations for states.

America is California now. HIV for everyone! Destroy your immune system! Lifelong medication! Enrich Big Pharma!

Wow. In the @nytimes, a doctor explains why the CDC chose to de-emphasize the elderly, even though doing so would've saved lives: "Older populations are whiter...Instead of giving add'l health benefits to those who already had them, we can start to level the playing field a bit"

Later in the piece another doctor, named Marc Lipsitch, explains that teachers should not be considered essential workers for the purpose of being given priority vaccines by the CDC because, and I quote, "they are often very white."

A third expert, an economist named Elise Gould, counters Dr. Lipsitch that teachers should be prioritized. Why? Because the families they teach are disproportionately "Black and Brown", and those groups would benefit more than white people.

So to sum up, in this single article by @JanHoffmanNYT, three experts--Schdmit, Lipsitch, and Gould-- say that more white people dying will "level the playing field", teachers are "too white" to deserve a vaccine, but that their "Black and Brown" students make them deserving.

As I have written elsewhere when this story came out, I think teachers are essential workers but they are not disproportionately low-income or minority. That is what I said and what the quote says.

I also have stated that I think teachers should be higher priority than most essential workers because having teachers and kids back in school would be so crucial to returning our society to full functioning.

My quote does not use the word essential, on purpose. They are essential, are not the ones to prioritize for equity reasons, apart from the points made by others about how their absence enhances inequity.

I'm done with this exchange which seems to be about picking a fight rather than understanding. The NEJM article I linked to above cites many reasons why closed schools disproportionately harm those who are already worst off, on many dimensions. Opening would help with that. Done.

The Elderly vs. Essential Workers: Who Should Get the Coronavirus Vaccine First?

The C.D.C. will soon decide which group to recommend next, and the debate over the trade-offs is growing heated. Ultimately, states will determine whom to include.

Published Dec. 5, 2020 Updated Dec. 15, 2020

Marc Lipsitch, an infectious-disease epidemiologist at Harvard’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health, argued that teachers should not be included as essential workers, if a central goal of the committee is to reduce health inequities.

“Teachers have middle-class salaries, are very often white, and they have college degrees,” he said. “Of course they should be treated better, but they are not among the most mistreated of workers.”

Elise Gould, a senior economist at the Economic Policy Institute, disagreed. Teachers not only ensure that children don’t fall further behind in their education, she said, but are also critical to the work force at large.

“When you talk about disproportionate impact and you’re concerned about people getting back into the labor force, many are mothers, and they will have a harder time if their children don’t have a reliable place to go,” she said. “And if you think generally about people who have jobs where they can’t telework, they are disproportionately Black and brown. They’ll have more of a challenge when child care is an issue.”

Harald Schmidt, an expert in ethics and health policy at the University of Pennsylvania, said that it is reasonable to put essential workers ahead of older adults, given their risks, and that they are disproportionately minorities. “Older populations are whiter, ” Dr. Schmidt said. “Society is structured in a way that enables them to live longer. Instead of giving additional health benefits to those who already had more of them, we can start to level the playing field a bit.”

The Case For a Pardon of Edward Snowden by President Trump

The real criminals are those he exposed: the security state officials who illegally and unconstitutionally spied on innocent people by the millions, and who still do so.

Glenn Greenwald 2 hr ago

Abuses of power by these agencies continue in full force. More recently, the Justice Department’s Inspector General found in 2019 that the FBI deceived the FISA court with false statements to obtain a warrant to spy on former Trump 2016 campaign official Carter Page. A former FBI lawyer pled guilty to doctoring emails to obtain those spying warrants. A DOJ report found more material errors from the FBI in the spying process in 2019. Late last year, the FISA court itself “issued a strong and highly unusual public rebuke to the FBI” and, the prior year, “found that the FBI may have violated the rights of potentially millions of Americans — including its own agents and informants — by improperly searching through information obtained by the National Security Agency’s mass surveillance program.”

Meanwhile, so many of the arguments against pardoning Snowden, and demanding his lifelong imprisonment or exile, come from the very security state operatives whose crimes he exposed. That includes John Brennan and James Clapper, along with their hawkish and neocon allies such as Susan Rice and Liz Cheney.

But James Clapper was never prosecuted for lying to the Senate. In fact, he did not even lose his job: he served as Director of National Intelligence for another three years, until the end of the Obama administration. And now this proven liar — like so many security state agents — works inside the corporate media, delivering the “news” for CNN.

The same is true of former CIA Director and proven pathological liar John Brennan. On Monday, he echoed the same false allegation as Liz Cheney did, in order to defend James Clapper and attack Senator Paul for advocating a pardon for Snowden:

But he was trapped in the Moscow International Airport because the U.S. State Department under John Kerry invalidated his passport while he was in transit, and then-Vice President Joe Biden threatened and coerced every other country considering offering him asylum or allowing him safe passage to South America (as he did with Cuba, which withdrew its offer of safe transit). A 2013 NPR headline tells part of that story: “Biden Asks Ecuador To Deny Snowden Asylum.” That was before he obtained asylum in Russia, something he was forced by Obama officials and Biden himself t>o do.

This was the statement by Trump that caused Chuck Schumer to warn on the Rachel Maddow Show in 2017 that if Trump continued to criticize CIA, they would get back at him "six different ways to Sunday":
