Found this today in the Windows newsfeed, of all places. Regardless of what you think about the Ukraine situation, it's clear that very few politicians can be trusted. They will all use a crisis to distract the nation from internal problems that they're unwilling to deal with.

That was my prediction at the start of the war as well. Western nations were going to all jump on the Ukraine bandwagon to distract from economic problems, immigration-related issues, the pandemic, societal unrest and more. No one actually cares to do anything about these because no one in power actually cares about the future of their own country.

It's that time again. The elites and so-called experts are once again pushing the whole "eat the bugs, live in the pod, peasant!" lifestyle.

They really want us to live a lifestyle worse than a third world subsistence farmer, where we get nothing and only they get the privilege of living in proper houses and eating real food that isn't bugs or some chemically processed garbage from a lab.

I mean, really? According to the study, novel foods (bugs and fake food) will save 85% of land and water use and carbon emissions. Seems extremely unrealistic to me.

Bugs alone don't have significantly more nutrients than real food, and they'll still require a lot of feed to raise. If you look into the logistics side of things, the gains made will be a lot smaller than they claim.

The less said about chemically processed fake foods, the better. I'm sure they'll require a lot of polluting chemicals to be extracted from the environment.

While it's true that wokeness is a factor contributing to the collapse of Netflix, I'd say it isn't the only one.

The main reason Netflix is collapsing is because of the streaming wars. Once upon a time, Netflix had more or less every show and movie under one platform.

Now every company wants their own streaming service to get a slice of that pie, so they've pulled out and started their own streaming services.

What we have today is not much different from the cable TV packages of old and few people want to put up with this.

Netflix's failure started when the streaming wars started, not when wokeness infected them. Had the streaming wars never happened, people would likely have remained subscribed to Netflix to see all the old good shows and movies even if they kept pumping out original woke garbage. Unless something truly egregious happened, I suppose. (See: Cuties)

Now that the streaming wars happened, Netflix rely on making original content to survive and they can't even do that because evil cannot create, it can only corrupt. Such is the tragedy of the woke idiots.

We'll have to see how things go. Maybe they'll tighten their belts, maybe they'll collapse.

We cannot deny that the West has been hitting them really hard though, what with shutting down payment infrastrcture in Russia, as well as sanctioning them really hard.

Well said. A tyrant will often look for ways to appease their guilty conscience, and woke ideology might seem like a way to do that for some tyrants. But this can only result in worse tyranny.

This does seem like a very short-sighted move. It seems likely that there will be many consequences which we can scarcely imagine, but I doubt they've put any thought into this before proceeding with Russia's cancellation.

The only thing that will stop the far leftists that I can see is time. Their ideology and what they're doing is inherently unsustainable and fails to address any of the existing societal problems, which are only getting worse over time.

In time, they'll collapse. But they'll deal long-term damage to the nations where they've wielded their influence.

The whole world is going authoritarian at this point. The only difference is whether you want to be under the thumb of wokists, or deal with Chinese social credit and corrupt autocrats that don't care about you.

We're also seeing a decisive battle between neoliberalism and the rest of the world now. If Russia falls, our chances of stopping the new order will be very low. Being able to cancel entire nations and succeed will be very powerful indeed.

Funnily enough, Russia has a plan in place for disconnecting their internet from the rest of the world. Won't help them any if their nation collapses though.

If the Russian cancellation works, we'll likely see the same tactics applied to Hungary and Poland first because they tried to resist the wokist agenda and I fear that they'll have no choice but to accept.

Losing on money from development funds is one thing that can be compensated for in other ways, but complete cancellation by all companies and Western governments is another.
