It's good to see him doing so well now, he got kinda fucked by the more zealous Comicgate guys some time ago.
?
Did not know this, would like to know.
I thought he just got screwed over on Reddit.
Heh you didn't miss much. A little while ago during the Comicgate thing there was a group of people inside it called "War Campaign", they were the more rabid kind of fans (think steven universe level) of the whole thing Comicgate was trying to do. And so they took it upon themselves to become the watchdogs, they screened the people trying to become part of Comicsgate (or simply using the name). Sorta like a messed up work interview (they goaded the artist to come to live streams with a ton of people, where they got questioned and/or attacked).
George here is an example of that, he got goaded into a livestream and had a terrible time, then he made a stink about it on Twitter, and so got into several arguments with Ethan Van Scyver and other Comicsgate guys. So basically twitter being twitter.
Thanks, I just didn't know that part.
On a side note, I guess it would be helpful to stay aware of those who really want to defend the things they like. I know gatekeeping is good for keeping the things you like live a bit longer, but I assume there will be people who don't even like the thing they're defending, they just want to be rabid inquisitors. Being a fan comes first, being a gatekeeper comes second.
Edit: Now that I think about, there can be those who like a property, but still are rabid inquisitors, like those SU fans. I guess now it would be best to not fall into extreme actions for mild stuff. To be able to look in the mirror and realize what you're doing is wrong. If they can't do it, then someone else will have to disavow them, hopefully. Maybe there are solutions I'm not aware of.
You act as though an inquisition from collective fandoms such as gaming and comics wouldn’t have halted this fucking insanity in the first place.
I mean... I would hope the eventual "inquisition" isn't this retarded. The whole point is, they were wrong in what they did, and were very very stupid. Sure gatekeep your hobbies, just don't be a retard about it.
If you hadn't posted this comic, I was going to.
