That's just as unfounded an assertion as OP made. All we know is they disliked it enough to make a devpost about it. Sure, you'd like to think it's just a gripe about not getting to show off all the weird exotic stuff in their telemetry fluffpiece. But I'd also like to think they're smart enough to not bitch about the players not treating the exotic options as the default choice. Frankly that's a whole lot more commendable of the playerbase than immediately flooding the world with chaotic good drow rangers and tieflings.
No-one made the Devs choose to showcase the median character build. If they wanted to show off the character creator's chops they could have shown the average choice instead. Mess around with some model scales for half an hour and made an off-white tiefl-orc with chibbi horns, tusks and tail, half a boob and vampirism on every second Tuesday. But no, they chose the median, because that's what they wanted to make a statement about.
