Season 2's new antagonist has revealed herself as turbo Hitler, as expected, but it's really the subtext that is so pernicious.
Stormfront (yup...) complains about "the other races" overwhelming and destroying "us", an obvious strawman of anyone who dares question the overt and deliberate demographic reform enacted within majority-white countries by liberal Western governments over the last half century.
No other peoples would see their concerns over such treatment dismissed so casually as hate speech and bigotry. I can only assume as much, of course, because no non-white cultures are being systematically targeted in this fashion. Strange, right?
I tolerated the show to this point because it was reasonably subtle with it's messaging and even occasionally mocked the empty virtue signaling of corporations and media. Most of the human characters have become increasingly unlikeable, but the corrupt supers are genuinely interesting. This episode shattered all that. I'm out.
Maybe I'm just blind to the propaganda, but the comic-book character that Stormfront is based off of was an actual Nazi, so I thought it wasn't too forced into my face. And it wasn't like this was out of the blue for Stormfront. Starting from episode 3, we see her do subtle and not-so-subtle racist remarks/actions. And don't forget that Gustavo Fring is still the head of Vought, so I want to see how they play this out.
prolly just being optimistic about how they will handle all of this tho. At least the Love Sausage cameo was funny lol
It's less the message and more exactly how it's being spoken.
Anyone who has read the comics knew this was coming despite them gender bending Stormfront for the show.
The important parts of what she was saying in the episode was her use of words like "Destroying our culture", a fairly common approach atm from more Left leaning outlets trying to dismiss/downplay the idea of a 'culture war' taking place.
There have been other moments in the show which have used very topical language choices when making a point, see MM in ep 4 or 5 talking to the black women about needing to come in to her house and hear her story. MM specifically mentions his OCD father going up against Vought in a legal issue and uses the phrase "they put their boot on his neck" [slightly paraphrased but it's pretty clear where that message comes from in the current news cycle].
The fact they used a superhero/geeky/nerdy platform to do it just reeks or irony, however.
It's nonsensical that Stormfront was based in Portland, and clearly supports leftist talking points. Almost like the producers are imbecilic.
