Except people are pretending that if it wasn't for a Republican controlled Senate in 2016, that the Democrats wouldn't have wanted to pushed it through. They're pretending today that it was done for altruistic reasons as opposed to simply being unable to. Not even mentioning that in their hubris they absolutely couldn't see themselves losing the election.
