This is why I hate the shift to digital media. It can just be removed and nobody else can easily access it, especially with the push to get rid of emulators.
Especially nowadays there are a decent amount of shows and games that never even see physical releases, either due to exclusivity deals, lack of money/connections, or other factors. The ability for art to just stop being available for anyone new to legally access it, doesn’t sit well with me at all.
I got the 3DS version and the Wii U/Wii version. I never opened them. I like to collect physical games because the digitals can be gone forever. I'm glad this one worked out for me, but a lot of other games are disappearing forever. I think digital should be an alternative that allows people to buy something without taking the space or catching a game as the physical copies start to disappear. The market is not working that way at all.
Licensing has ruined even physical copies/reruns of certain television shows. Anyone new to Cheers, for instance, wouldn't notice that they got rid of the song Monster Mash in favour of some generic nothing song in the episode where the rival bar pranks Sam with it unless they remembered seeing it during its original run.
Seriously, the joke is WAY less funny because of it.
