I’d argue that the 442nd were forced to undertake missions that were of higher risk since their losses were deemed more acceptable due to the fact that they were primarily made up of Japanese-Americans. Which is why they are the most decorated unit in the US Army, since they kept surviving missions that should have wiped them out.
