The comments in that first thread are downright disgusting. I know reddit is mostly idiot kids but, goddamn, this is beyond boot-licking. It's full on shove-that-thing-down-my-throat.
What I do is occasionally open the home page in a private window just to see what Reddit is feeding to people when they visit for the first time or without logging in.
This is the true tragedy of the open internet.
Nowadays, anyone can create video evidence of everything that happens to them. They can share it with millions of people, instantly. You can archive any event, you can document anything.
Yet a large percentage of people rabidly ignore all that evidence, and embrace totalitarianism. They cheer when other people have their rights stripped away or when basic laws get flagrantly ignored.
And of course there are multiple posts on the front page of Reddit chalk full of people gloating about it.
