Not a good comparison. Parents are in charge because they have a better idea of what the child need than the children themselves. If you translate that into a political context, you have politicians knowing better than their constituents what they need. If you truly believe that, you should be campaigning for the abolition of elections and the installation of your favorite enlightened despot.
