Recently, Shapiro took great offense to Cardi B’s song, “WAP,” to the point where he awkwardly recited a (censored) version of the song's lyrics, live on his show. It’s an amusing clip

This is a pretty classic comedy bit. Decades ago some comedian (can't remember who, think someone who hosted the Tonight Show pre-Carson) would deadpan read the lyrics to Elvis' "Hound Dog". While the song is awesome when cool guy Elvis sings along with his rock band, it's quite different when the silly lyrics are being read like a news story by an old, uncool guy in a suit & tie. Letterman used to do this awesome bit where his stagehands would deadpan Oprah show transcripts- it's stuff that seems absurd out of the original context.

Shapiro repeats the sexually explicit phrases with stilted, painful apprehension, as though the words themselves could summon a succubus with a swollen rear.

Ben Shapiro reciting "There's some whores in this house" like he was reading an article about tax reform is funny, made funnier by the man being well-known as strictly religious & a virgin til marriage. The fact he says "p-word" etc makes it funnier. HE. WAS. IN. ON. THE. JOKE. This is like mocking John Ritter on Three's Company by going "LOOK AT THAT DUMMY FALLING OVER THE COUCH! WHAT A FUCKING MORON!!"

Noticing that he was, again, the subject of mass mockery, Shapiro took the time to tweet a response, which contained an amusing implication.

Of course they're erasing the context: Ben's wife never said her pussy was always bone-dry when they fuck, they were being intentionally absurd by taking the lyrics literally and correctly stating that having so much vaginal discharge you'd literally need a bucket and a mop was the sign of a serious medical condition.

I’d be surprised if Shapiro himself didn’t understand this contradictory dynamic, and actively seek public humiliation, on a regular basis, for the sake of his career.

He understands that it's humorous to hear a straight-laced Orthodox Jew read black women's rap lyrics deadpan. That's not seeking "public humiliation", it's using humor to express his frustration with a culture that tells women & men to act like whores.
