Because they know the people who own the hotels, and the people who own them donate money towards their re-elections. Everyone knows it's just a big racket.
I'm glad Trump is trying to bankrupt these states (including mine). The governors wanted to play this little game of chicken by keeping everything shut down indefinitely; let them deal with the consequences.
The free extra money can't be covered by California and New Jersey, so at best, $300 extra and the $100 not given will piss off the liberals. If they sue the President, they will look worse for getting rid of a sure extra $300/week.
Newsom could have afforded one week of it, but he gave our money to illegals. That's not even mentioning the $1 billion that's in the process of being laundered.
Remember that they spent $100 million housing homeless in Hotels.
In HOTELS. With Coronavirus money.

It doesn't work that way; it's 3x matching funds. If CA and NJ don't put the $100 in, they don't get the $300 out. They get nothing. Too bad, so sad.
Everything I've read and heard says it's $300 or $400. I haven't heard or read about matching.
