Trump's Tencent order only bans WeChat, not Riot and Blizzard. That's a good thing

It may not have been enforceable if Tencent's holdings in American companies were also banned, but they officially took Tencent's money and unofficially do who knows what in return, so fuck them equally to TikTok and WeChat. Ban them all. Hollywood, the NBA, fuck them all.
That's not true. That wording is pretty broad and leaves it up to the Secretary of Commerce to determine "any subsidiary of that entity". They may not ban something such as Riot, but it doesn't mean they can't. This is one giant guillotine over any company associated with Tencent.
So technically the US could ban Reddit...
It would ban financial transactions with Reddit which means all their ad revenue would shrivel up and die overnight.
Seems that Reddit is living on borrowed time then.
If the axe is dropped it would effect their domain registar access and hosting as well as I would doubt any company would be kind enough to hand it over as charity.
The sword of Damocles, and the hair holding it up is exceptionally fine. I'd expect court challenges though, and given courts seem to be full on TDS I'm not going to be holding my breath
Agreed. Fuck the CCP and anyone throwing in with them.
I don't know how much they own of Riot. I've heard it's 100%, but Blizzard and Reddit are partial holdings. There needs to be a better plan for those. While they're at it, maybe the plan can also be used to remove Soros' investments into American companies.
Riot Games is wholly owned by Tencent
Ah, OK. Trump could probably ban it then.
and absolutely nothing of value would be lost
Fuck those commie scum.
Sounds like this really isn't going to do much to get the chinese disease out of gaming.
