It's also why they were so easy to beat anywhere outside their home territory in WW2. They were arrogant, aristocratic, and believed in their chosen status. That really didn't work out for them.
I don't think Biak, Tarawa, Peleliu, Okinawa (which the Japanese did consider home soil) or a dozen other battles were "easy" at all. :/
Their culture and ideology were outdated and primitive, it's true. Their disdain for the lives & suffering of their soldiers and civilians didn't help them at all, really.
