I was under the impression that the Spanish kingdom collapsed as a result of the Jews pulling all their money out, though I'd never really looked into it. I guess I got bamboozled at some point

Their big problem was kinda the opposite. All those shiploads of gold and silver they sent back from the new world caused some nasty inflation.
