What? Denzel Washington's clone has no charisma? No, he really doesn't. I wanted to give him a chance, but his dad trained him in the same manner: "Just be the same guy in every role, then you'll never have to act."
Yes, Tenet was very interesting on a technical level, and a kickass soundtrack, but it doesn't track. People said Inception didn't make sense, but I defended it and they eventually came around. Tenet really doesn't follow. Like, the end of the world hinges on a Russian oligarch and his divorce? Why should I care about that giraffe woman? Why do the heroes?
Tenet fell into a trap that writers encounter when they've been cooking a story for too long; they've been living with these characters in their head for years and naturally become invested in them over time, but they forget that the audience doesn't have that benefit. They don't need to justify the characters or the plot to themselves, then start writing scenarios where they assume we care just as much.
