Apparently it was a 17 year old “female”, the general assumption is that it’s a troon after the chief of police couldn’t say if it was a male or female.

"Couldn't say" and "Unsure" carry different potentials. The fact he said "unsure" means there is a higher probability that that information simply has not reached him yet. Let's just sit back and wait. The truth will come out in due time.
