China, the country where tech companies like Tencent are 10% commissars? The decision would stifle innovation, but not so much that a nation of plagiarists are going to take the lead.
Even if we don’t need to be extremely worried about China, I think it’s probably good to act as though we do. Competition spurs innovation, but security breeds complacency.
