I didn't pay much attention to be honest, but his childless cat ladies comment gave me a positive impression. Other than that he struck me as a pretty unsurprising pick from the populist wing of the party. It looks like he'll clear the low bar of not pulling a Mike Pence, and the sky is the limit from there.
