One thing I've really gotten to like about anime music is that rock/punk seems to still be pretty popular in Japan, whereas it's been virtually entirely replaced by rap/autotuned club music here in the US. I can't understand a lick of the lyrics, but a ton of anime has really catchy and upbeat punk, and as a 90s teen, it brings back fond memories. I'm a (marginal to average) drummer and a lot of the songs aren't too hard to play and a ton of fun.
I'll start by saying Tu Love Ru's season one opener "Forever we can make it" by THYME (also the animation that goes with it in the show is👍)
Favorite OP is Sorairo Days from Gurren Lagann.
Favorite ED is either Uso from FMAB or Akaneiro Ga Moeru Toki from Gungrave.
Though it feels unfair to list so few when there are so many great ones out there, so I'll throw in a few more of my favorites (CBA to link em though):
OPs:
You wa Shock from Hokuto no Ken
Colors from Code Geass
Bloody Stream from JoJo's part 2.
A lot of the big shounen have a lot of good OPs, can't list em all though so I'll try to say 1 from each:
(JJK OP1, AoT OP1, Bleach OP2, Naruto OP4, Shippuden OP14 or 16, One Piece... too much competition for the the best one, maybe OP15, 17, 18, or 21? Vic Mignogna did a great english version for OP1 and 3 though; FMAB OP3,
Yu Yu Hakusho OP1 (had both a good ENG and JP version)
Pokemon OP1 and 8 (specifically the English movie versions)
Magical Babyrinth from Iruma-kun
EDs:
Roundabout - Jojo's Part 2
Styx Helix - Re:Zero S1
Buchikome!! - Hajime no Ippo Rising
Yakitate ED1 and 2
Shimoneta (both the OP and ED, be aware its lewd)
Try Again - Gunbuster
Last Piece - Great Teacher Onizuka
Minna no Peace - TTGL
Mosaic Kakera - Code Geass
