One thing I've really gotten to like about anime music is that rock/punk seems to still be pretty popular in Japan, whereas it's been virtually entirely replaced by rap/autotuned club music here in the US. I can't understand a lick of the lyrics, but a ton of anime has really catchy and upbeat punk, and as a 90s teen, it brings back fond memories. I'm a (marginal to average) drummer and a lot of the songs aren't too hard to play and a ton of fun.
I'll start by saying Tu Love Ru's season one opener "Forever we can make it" by THYME (also the animation that goes with it in the show is👍)
I know it’s sappy but for some reason I love the theme to Ah My Goddess
Nothing wrong with sappy. Modern Western media has been subjecting us to an relentless torrent of cynicism, misery, backstabbing, cruelty, subversion, and hopelessness for years. Listening to something that makes you feel good is worth it's weight in gold pressed latinum. Watching anime itself has that same effect, which is why it's become so popular. Real heros, real friendships, hot feminine girls, happy endings, the underestimated badass arriving at the darkest moment and turning the tide, etc. Western media has been trying to steal those feelings from us. Don't ever be ashamed to cling to them.
I'll see your sappy and raise you Eromanga Sensei's opening.
I’ll have to check it out. I’m not as knowledgeable on anime but getting there. Ah my Goddess was the first Manga I ever bought along with Fist of the North Star
Shiawase no Iro? It's one of the first MP3s I ever downloaded.
I need to download it. So catchy.
