I can say that its nicer to have two fewer pedophiles and for it to have been legal to have been done.

That is certainly true.

I also can't neglect the effect that a smiling citizen carrying a pistol out in the open has on the general actions of bad people. Lots of shootings in self defense happen that are not mass reported as anti-gun propaganda still runs high amongst those who most deserve to have a gun trained upon them. Some would call it self-preservation.

Believe me, I can certainly see the benefits of it, particularly in a country like America that is much emptier than Europe, and a little bit more dangerous. The fact that anyone can break into my home and I'll be at his mercy is disturbing. But since that barely ever happens, it doesn't bother me that much.

But I already see Europeans claiming that the stoopid Americans should be changing their gun laws in response to this last shooting. Even aside from the substance of the matter, I'm highly offended that these people think they should be able to decide what people in a country they've never been to should do about a subject they don't understand.
