If the UK government wasn't consistently trying to withhold information, ignore criminal activity, and punish anyone who speaks out all for the benefit of the same groups... maybe then people would not be so quick to jump to conclusions.

You want people to stop guessing at characteristics of criminals? Don't deliberately hide them in the first place. Or I guess you could keep threatening people who fill in the vacuum based on obvious patterns. I'm sure that'll be a winning strategy for your country.
