The right have more lone wolves who react to an event and then cause massive damage solo. Ruby Ridge and Waco led to the Oklahoma bombing and then you have incidents like the Killdozer so not a great plan to piss off the right too much...

I wouldn't be surprised if the Secret Service on the ground had no idea but were inefficiently staffed to make this more likely but for the grace of God (and I ain't religious) Trump turned his head at the right time and avoided being a JFK and is now a Reagan, Teddy and Jackson list of survivors. Looking at the first one, after that failed assassination, he won by 22 points by landslide so they fucked themselves out of cheating margins.

This has destroyed ALL Democrat election strategy as they no longer can demonise Trump since he almost got assasinated, the mainstream media is REALLY behind the curve in the US at least and independents are doing a better job and all the TDS sufferers are outing themselves hard while the hidden MAGA supporters are coming out. This may mean no 'civil war' but you may see A LOT more panicking dem side realising they not only have to deal with a senile Biden but they ACTUALLY have to talk policy since they can't demonise Trump anymore.
