ABC had online responses all treating the Democrats as the good and noble who are fighting the savagery of the world.

It does, but not in the way they try to portray it. 3.5 years of telling us "don't believe your lying eyes! Biden is sharper than ever!" and then only having some of them pivot a little after he fouls up in a way that can't be hidden is not a good thing.
