In a local paper they had an article about how at a high school graduation one of the ladies graduating handed the superintendent a book that was on the “banned list”. I was glad to see so many in the comments point out that if she was able to get the book then it isn’t banned.
Pointing this out to people is as useless as trying to debunk the police shooting narrative to a true believer. I had a cousin that got mad at me because he was talking about Florida banning books and I simply pointed out all the books listed were available to order on Amazon. Why people don’t understand that a public library or public school not carrying a book is banning it. By all means, start your own bookstore or public library
Agree and amplify. Schools shouldn't ban those books. They should also have multiple copies of Mein Kampf, the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, the March 1982 issue of Playboy, and the anarchist's cookbook. Regardless of what their counter argument is, just insist that you agree with their initial one.
What is special about that playboy issue?
Nothing in particular, I picked one at random because "muh unrealistic beauty standards."
Ohh. I assumed playboy went the way of overnight Cinemax since porn is so easy to get. I do remember hearing playboy touting their first “trans woman”. So they have the same moronic marketing as the swimsuit issue
I was curious. They'd be torn on that one. The cover model was Nicaragua-American (the lady assassin from Never Say Never Again) which is inclusion points. But she was smoking which seems to be only vice that the left hates.
But one of the cover stories was also: "Finally, a sensible article about guns." But in the early 80s I don't know which way that's going to swing.
