They say a liberal is a conservative who hasn’t gotten mugged yet. The “mugging” in this context represents any experience that reveals the hypocrisy and/or irrationality of leftism. Over the course of a lifetime, the odds of such an experience only go up. The ultimate goal of leftists is to establish programming so powerful and pervasive that it can withstand several such experiences without collapsing into noticing.
