This will be a fun thing to bicker about but I do think it ultimately boils down to preference. Aim down sights or hip fire half life style? Which do you prefer for your shooter style? I'm ultimately very mixed and can go for either, I find ADS can be pretty immersive under the right circumstances but then I like with quick arcadey feel of a hip fire game and not really having to think about much beyond blasting stuff.

Squad does it right, imo. ADS is the way to go almost all the time. But if you're clearing rooms in a house ADS through a 4X scope may not be ideal. At such times you can hip fire, but there is no crosshairs.
