There's certainly enough to say it's janky and I can see a company like Disney or AMD pulling something like this off around February of this year to inflate perceived interest and trust in their brands.
But there will be legal measures in place to stop this from becoming a legitimate reality and any assertions of it having existed will be dismissed as attempted sabotage.
Once again though, proper investigative journalism didn't come from 'trusted' sources and so this could have been a reality for quite a while and the entire stock market being propped up on said trust is just waiting to come crashing down.
