I just logged into my personal email to find a whole bunch of phishing shit, some of which was reasonably convincing (i.e. fake invoices for digital products that I do actually have), along with receiving an interminable number of spam texts, though that's not so much of a recent phenom...
I have quite a few spam filters set up, and they're usually reasonably effective, although they seem to be getting much weaker, in that regard, in the last couple of years...
Very irritating. Unfortunately transferring from Mac to PC means that I've had to invest in Norton Antivirus again (yes, I know there are other options. This one came with the setup), and I've also been forced back into the use of Microsoft Outlook, both through Uni and because, again, Windows computer, so I'm not sure how much either of those have played into the spam increase, but man am I ever sick of it... Not sure whether the move to and from Sweden, and everything involved in that, may have contributed too, but I doubt it...
Kind of curious whether anyone else, in different situations and countries, have noticed a similar uptick, because I know that it's not just me being impacted by this, where I live...
Funny enough, I've had the same phone number for going on seven, eight years, and I still get spam texts for the previous number holder. I got curious, so I did a quick internet search.
Turns out he's a doctor from Dallas, and a hospital where he at least used to work still has my number listed.
It's annoying, but the more I think about it, it does makes it a lot easier to weed out spammers.
Do with that information what you will.
