Atleast, that was the approach used at ConPro
It actually seems like here they are also using “idiot lightning rods”, people who are just saying outrageously dumb shit to provoke arguments and a generally more hostile environment. The gopower fake superjew for example or this new muppet retard.
I thought gopower was a legitimate GOPe figure until he started saying stuff like supporting hate speech laws and saying that 'white people interfered'.
But the more fundamental question is, do we want to make trolling illegal? It wasn't even illegal on the subreddit. Even my determination to give trolls a mandatory flair pointing out what they are was controversial among some.
Why not? Our enemies don't want free speech, so why should we give it to them?
Yeah I support make trolling illegal for trolls.
To my enemies: the law. To my friends: everything else.
It's not even really that, it's more like free speech should be opt-in. If you want your speech to be protected, then you need to be comfortable allowing others that same freedom (and vice versa).
The people who come here and brigade with pedophilic and genocidal comments are, ultimately, trying to get places like this shut down. They're trying to bring negative attention to this place such that it appears to be a liability for any host who would platform it. That means eventually the cord will get yanked and we've lost yet another place to communicate freely. It's constructive censorship. People who want to engage in censorship don't, by definition, want free speech. So we don't have to give it to them. Fuck 'em.
Well said.
