Game publishers ‘won’t support libraries for preserving online games’ | VGC

The Electronic Software Association has shot down the idea of supporting libraries in the preservation of defunct online games.

The law needs to be adjusted. Companies should be forced to choose between refunding purchasers or prison sentences (Not fines that can just be brushed off). If they don't want to preserve the servers, they must provide the server software or make an offline patch.

Other options if they don't want to refund are to keep the online servers running or commit to an "end of life" plan that would allow the game to keep functioning without support.
