It's because they mis-apply the Golden Rule.

Women want sexually secessful men. Ergo, they think men want sexually successful women. They either don't realize or are incapable of understanding that the dating situation for men and women exist in two different worlds.

If you apply this reasoning to what women do, alot of things start to make sense.
