The bro code was enforced by the implied threat of violence, and until recently it was understood by cops that when men have a dispute, unless it escalates to murder they should just stay out of it. Even physically superior men tended to restrain themselves from being dishonorable douchebags since a weaker man can still make things not worth it, and if anything a man willing to take a beating for his own honor was considered admirable.

But the era of zero tolerance policies in schools, police being incentivised to make arrests with quota systems where they could have simply de-escalated a violent situation, and criminal records that follow you literally everywhere, has turned men into a bunch of pussified metrosexuals who only lift for looks, rather than to fight.

As a result you have men resorting to the weapons of women; passive-aggression, sarcasm, twisting your words, emotional blackmail, etc. In a previous era boys learned quickly that acting like a weaselly little bitch was an invitation to getting jumped, coming back to school the next day with black eyes, and everyone knowing that you got what you fucking deserved instead of getting pity and parents and teachers getting the cops involved.
