I think that at least some normies have an idea of what's going on, but they're too scared to speak up. Especially since woke hall monitors are professionally trained in bullshitting and "polite" bullying, it takes a lot of skill to handle these types IRL without escalating things to a shouting match.
Just like white collar workplace bullies in general, they take advantage of the fact that most people are conflict-averse cowards, and will thus placate the crybaby with short-term concessions until the crybaby runs the whole place.
These types can't survive environments where people are unafraid to challenge them and have enough time to deconstruct their bullshit. But they know that they're at an advantage in controlled environments where you don't have the time to unpack their fallacious talking points, or the freedom to counter anything they say with anything but the most cucked, conciliatory nitpicks.
