This seems like a very nice gain for the populist right. Especially since I don't think MAGA has been particularly involved with Brandon's campaign. Gonzalez seems to have properly pissed off even establishment Republicans in Texas, and Herrera seems like he might be able to be endorsed by other primary candidates.
Considering that Texas 23 is also overrun with illegals (and a primary avenue of election fraud by Dems to create a blue Texas), this could be a big win. Especially to put a populist in the House (which is going to be a hard fight this year).
Herrera is going to have a lot of friends in the 2A community, as well as friends with the gun industry and the GOA. What he needs is a Trump endorsement to settle the matter and push Gonzalez out.
Trump endorsed Gonzalez in 2020, only for Gonzalez to vote for impeaching Trump on January 6th. Trump would eventually endorse Gonzalez's opponent, but to no avail. I know resources are thin, but this could be an easy win for Trump, securing an ally in the House, and putting a staunch 2A supporter in a position of prominence.
