Just like Rand in the Wheel of Time series, it's much more humiliating to turn the main character into a weak, pathetic sidekick to the now hyper-competent girlbosses/minorities around him. His purpose will be to have all the flaws and no redeeming arc other than to realise just how stale, pale and male he is. He should relinquish his power as the world would be better off if it was ruled by his diverse companions instead.
