The Spanish Civil War was to Leftists then, like the Hamas-Israel War is to Leftists now.

Anyone who was even tacitly Leftwing in the west supported the Anarcho-Syndicalists, Communists, or Republicans. Even Orwell masturbated to how wonderful everyone was. The Anarchists conquered a town, committed a mass execution, dressed everyone in identical clothing, burned down the church, plastered everything with ideological vandalism, and then made everyone repeat Leftist rhetoric. Even to the point of requiring everyone to end sentences with, "comrade" and shit like that.

He just writes like a bitch in heat seeing this; refusing to acknowledge how insane it is. The propaganda of the left is very strong on this front.

He's a good example, because most of the intellectual class were left-wing. What that means is that everyone around him his telling him how perfect it is, and how they're literally gonna craft a utopia. A lot of those intellectuals are also ethnic 'jews'. Zionism, being a secular form of ethno-nationalism, ethno-socialism, appeals to them as well.

From that period, left-wing jews basically didn't even see any real problems with religious jewish discrimination, or discrimination against orthodox or eastern european jews in general because they saw them as inferior or benighted. Even judaism itself was just another "opiate of the masses". This is why even Fascism in Italy was appealing to them. Leftist jews only started serious objections when it looked like Leftists would come to literally kill them specifically... much like with what happened with the progressives as a reaction to the Hamas-Israel war.

And, much like the jew-hatred in BLM and the "Palestinian" movements, as long as the Leftists looked like they were winning, counter-narratives were spun and rationalizations were made in order to excuse atrocities committed by Leftists. The Spanish Civil War started as the result of a Red Terror, but then there was a counter-narrative about a White Terror. There were denials of mass murders and ethnic cleansings, and all sorts of typical Leftist propaganda that all left-wingers bought into; including Orwell & Oppenheimer. And again, jew hatred was excused, rationalized, or simply just tolerated as long as it looked like Leftists were gaining power.

Frankly, that line from Oppenheimer in the movie is likely just bullshit. There was no clear jew hatred from Italy & Japan prior to 1944 or 1943; and the US government was mostly ignoring evidence of the holocaust. It simply wasn't much of a factor. Most Left-wing intellectual jews in America and Britain that could get out of Germany had already gotten out in the 30's. It was really only jews from Poland & Ukraine that had already escaped, and were getting information passed to them by friends and relatives that shit had gone properly fucking genocidal. And again, they faced resistance from Western Socialist jews who refused to accept it.

That's actually one very ugly cultural problem within European jewish communities. How many of them were responsible for allowing the holocaust to take place because they were so eager to see Socialism success while watching clear warning signs of genocide being directed at poor, religious, eastern European jews who they saw as inferior and maybe even deserving of violence in the first place.
